People Need to Hear Your Testimony of Grace

In John 4 we read about Jesus encountering a Samaritan woman, a woman who had absolutely zero value in the eyes of the world. Not only because she was a woman, but also because she was a Samaritan, a race that the Jewish people considered to be a half-breed. The third strike against her is that she had also had five husbands and was currently living with a man to which she was not married (John 4:17-18). When I look at this woman from a worldly perspective, I can’t help but wonder what could Jesus possibly want with her? Why would a Jewish rabbi willingly go against all cultural, social, and religious norms, risking his reputation, to strike up a conversation with a woman that scripture doesn’t even name? I think the answer is really very simple: He’s Jesus. At its core, this story is a perfect picture of the gospel. Jesus knew this woman’s past. She herself tells the townspeople after leaving Jesus, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could …

Who Needs The Hope of Your Resurrection Story?

I hope you have been a part of our “My Resurrection Story” series that finished on Sunday.  And I hope you got to experience the Easter service as well.  Not because it was the largest attendance to date (which is pretty cool), but because truth was preached.  The morning centered around the truth that the story of Christ’s resurrection is also our story.  If you were there, you experienced the Spirit of God expressing this through every aspect of the service. So, what is your resurrection story?  When I think about that, I consider how I am a different person.  I know Christ, who lives in me, has made me different than I what I used to be.  I’ve been a Christian for as long as I can basically remember, but I didn’t really know the resurrected Christ until I truly started surrendering to Him and letting Him change me.  And honestly, it’s …

Have you met Tyler?

I came to the University of West Georgia (UWG) as a freshman in the Fall of 2010. I planned to transfer to the University of Georgia, I only had to endure UWG for two years before I could make the move. Well, five years later and I am still living in Carrollton… Quite frankly, The City of Dreams won me over. I met a lot of people in my dorm hall my freshman year and got involved with different clubs and organizations on campus. One of the student organizations that I got plugged into was a college ministry called Campus Outreach (CO). I met a staff person with CO on my first day at UWG and as the semester went on, I got more involved. The ministry did a lot of fun things throughout the year and really focused on being intentional with freshman like myself. For the first time in my life I was having interactions with Christians that were, well, different. It wasn’t the cheesy and stuffy Christianity that I was exposed to in my …
