This Week For Sunday

When we introduced this song to the Fusion students, they took to it like fish to water.  The lyrics are moving and powerful set to a melody that touches the soul.  The first verse says:

Rumors of the Son of Man
Stories of a Savior
Holiness with human hands
Treasure for the traitor

Can you imagine being alive during Jesus’ ministry?  I’m sure word spread quickly about this unassuming man who spoke truth with a mixture of authority and compassion they had never seen before.

Did you hear about this man from Nazareth?
How can he heal the lame and bring back the dead?
He said he has the power to forgive our sins!
Could this really be the Messiah we’ve been waiting for?

As stories circulated, people had to see it for themselves.  They came out in droves to catch a glimpse of this God-man and his rag-tag bunch of followers.  While the people were curious and hopeful, the religious leaders whispered and conspired behind closed doors.

Who does this guy think he is?
This is the work of the devil!
Let’s put him to the test.
Let’s put him to death.

But even the grave couldn’t hold Him down!  God had come to earth; Holiness with human hands.  He is the Savior long ago foretold who fulfills the law and sets us free from it.  He is a treasure that I don’t deserve as I am the ultimate traitor, forsaking my God daily.  Yet He gives me grace beyond measure, because of His great love.

He is so worthy of His name!

As you go about your week, I’d encourage you to soak in the truths told through the songs for Sunday:
