Has anyone ever revealed a secret to you with the caviat that you can’t tell anyone and then later you told another person saying “I’ll tell you this secret, but you have to promise you won’t tell anyone”?
I’m guilty.
In Colossians, Paul writes about a secret; an ancient secret, a secret that can now be shared with everyone:
God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you. This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. – Colossians 1:25-27
Christ lives in us! That’s something to get excited about. That’s something to tell people about; it’s the secret to a fulfilled life and eternal hope that we simply can’t keep to ourselves!
We’re singing “Your Love Awakens Me” again this week. The bridge of this song says:
What a love we’ve found
death can’t hold us down
we’re alive cause you’re alive.
Now that’s a secret worth telling!
