What an awesome message for our children and teenagers! Even though I’m not a parent, this warms my heart.
Yet, is this not the same with our Heavenly Father? Don’t we all do this?
When faced with a decision or the unknown, it’s easy to do a Google search, ask a friend, and listen to the majority. But Google doesn’t know it all and the information it provides isn’t always the truth. The way of the majority usually isn’t right, just easy. And your friends don’t know what is best for you like God does.
God should be our default. Falling to our knees and turning to our Heavenly Father for wisdom and guidance should be the first place we go.
James 1:5 says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. – Matthew 7:7-11
This Sunday is Father’s Day. Don’t just buy your father another ugly tie this year. Spend time with him, listen to him, and gain wisdom from his life experiences. And do the same with your Heavenly Father this week. Spend time with Him, listen to Him, and gain wisdom that only He can give.
