How completely crazy are we small humans to think that we can put God inside a box? We all do it, right? We only think about the omnipotent Creator when it’s convenient for us. We put our quiet time in a 20 minute time slot, check it off our list, and leave it on the coffee table until the next day.
God doesn’t fit inside our box. He manifests himself in the dark corners and unknown cracks where we forget He exists. This place for me is my career. In the education system, Christ is He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named. What I love about my Savior is that this human law doesn’t stop His power.
I’ve experienced God’s power through the people with which I work. I have been encouraged, uplifted and prayed for within the education system, a place where God isn’t supposed to exist. I have experienced suffering that led to triumphant praise. Because the people I worked with let God use them, a child whose parent passed felt peace throughout his mourning process. A child who has extreme hearing deficiencies is able to communicate with teachers and his friends, because of one woman’s submission to God’s calling in her life. God’s plan will be done no matter what.
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. –Romans 8:35,37-38
You don’t have to work for a church or religious ministry to see God’s work. Despite our imperfect nature, God has no limits and His ways are good. Allow your heart to be open to His call in your career. I challenge you to pray that God will open your heart and tear apart the box you have put Him in. Allow His will to be done in your every day, moment by moment life, even in a place that seems as if He doesn’t exist.
