This Week For Sunday

Whew. The holidays have already come and gone. It’s crazy how fast they come and how fast they go. I always look forward to the holidays, enjoy them while they last, and then am thankful when they pass so I can return to my routine.  (Kinda like this weekly post… We missed a couple weeks in the midst of the holiday hustle, but we’re back at it now.)

This week we are introducing “Touch the Sky” by Hillsong United. A line in the chorus sings, “I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground.” That is such a powerful picture.

The lower we arrange ourselves the further we reach into heaven. Think about it: Jesus, in all of his riches and glory, lowered himself to become a servant and a sacrifice for all people.  He said things like, “the last will be first” and “you must lay down your life to find it.” Jesus is all about honoring humility. When we lower ourselves, we acknowledge his greatness.

Begin to humble yourself this week and prayerfully sing these songs throughout your week until we all meet together on Sunday.

I am a southern boy that loves to spend my time with my beautiful wife, Kelli, and my two boys, Liam and Levi. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and playing guitar, designing things, Braves baseball, being a husband and dad, but above all I love to worship Jesus… especially with music. I am a Creative Arts Pastor at Southern Hills Christian Church where I focus on graphic design and music.

Thanks Andrew! Beautifully said! BTW, the two Andrews sounded amazing on Sunday. Can we expect more duets!

I love this song but I must admit I have had trouble understanding the lyrics over the car radio. Thanks for the link where I can view them. Looking forward to singing it this week. Another song that greatly touches my heart that I would love to hear sung someday is Blessings by Laura Story. I think it speaks volumes to everyone. And, yes, I LOVED the “Andrew” duet Sunday. It was hard to not get up and jump around…but I didn’t want to distract you. Ha!

  3. As usual, wonderful music chosen. The message in them touches the heart and soul. Please help me pray my husband will attend. I brag on our music every week. I want him to know just how wonderful our church family is, and how special Southern Hill is.

Thank you. I agree, we do have a wonderful church family. I am praying for you and your husband.
