This Week for Sunday

“Christ is Enough” has become one of my favorite songs. It’s not because it’s catchy, easy to sing, or that it uses the classic hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.” Yes, all those are true and I do like the song for those reasons, but they are not why it’s one of my new favs. This song has become very special to me because Liam,my two year old son, is constantly singing it.  My sweet, innocent, and handsome (he gets it honestly) two year old is already proclaiming that Christ is enough.  And he’s so cute when he sings it!

Every time I watch this video, I think about how much I love both my sons. I think about God the Father’s love for Jesus the Son and that God gave Jesus to pay for our sin. I think about Liam or Levi dying because someone else screwed up and I get angry and heartbroken. I think about me being that person that screwed up, that I’m the sinner for which God gave His son. I also think about how I’ll never be a good enough person, husband, father, or friend. And I think about Jesus being enough.

I pray that these words that Liam sings will one day be more than a song and that my boys will one day know the truth that I know. We aren’t good enough and nothing we do is enough. But Christ Is Enough!

I am a southern boy that loves to spend my time with my beautiful wife, Kelli, and my two boys, Liam and Levi. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and playing guitar, designing things, Braves baseball, being a husband and dad, but above all I love to worship Jesus… especially with music. I am a Creative Arts Pastor at Southern Hills Christian Church where I focus on graphic design and music.
