Being used by God takes having a little vision on our part. Seeing what God wants us to see, being used how God wants us to be used takes vision. So what’s this vision thing and how does it work?!
Jonathan Swift said, “Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.” Yep, I like it! But if you think about it, there was a lot of that going on in 60’s and 70’s, if you know what I mean…
How about this one from Helen Keller: “The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but no vision.” Well, that one sorta stings don’t it?! But we would agree that it’s true.
Proverbs 29:18 tells us “Where there is no vision the people perish.” (KJV) I think its safe to assume we’re not in favor of the perishing part.
As leaders and members, we are seeking the vision God has for our church. And God’s plan is far greater than anything we could have dreamed up! How exciting to be apart of something that we couldn’t accomplish on our own!
I want to say thank you to all the SoHills family for trusting and committing to this project even in its infancy. Currently, the architects are working to fine tune the community center site plans to meet our projected financial target. It’s exciting to see how the student housing, the auditorium/gym, restaurant, pre-school and all the other pieces are coming together. I can’t wait to see the positive impact this facility has in our community!
Hopefully by the end of June we will have the architect renderings and other information we need to start the fundraising process. The current projected need to start groundbreaking is approximately $5 million.
So how can you help keep this project in the forefront of our church and community?
Pray! We have a zoning request that will be addressed in July and August. Pray for a successful review. After the zoning review, the City Counsel will vote on the project. Again pray for a positive vote and support for the project. Currently we are working with several financial partners on fundraising and mortgage options. Pray for generosity and wisdom.
Share! God is moving in mighty ways; maybe He wants to use someone you know. Share this vision. Talk to your neighbors and your friends. Doors are being opened and connections for Christ are being made.
Serve! Continue to serve and to work in changing our community for Christ. There are so many lives that we touch who desperately need Christ and His grace. Allow God to use you in your everyday life.
I’m glad to be a member of the SoHills family and am excited about our future! Praise God!
