Good morning Monday!
Doesn’t it just blow your mind how quickly the weekend comes and goes? I specifically remember thinking at the end of the week that I couldn’t wait for the weekend to arrive… and then POOF, it’s gone! Where did it go and what in the world did I even do with it?!
Life in general is the exact same way. James tells us in chapter 4 of his letter to the church, “Your life is like the morning fog-it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” (NLT) Before our lives are gone like the weekend, I think it’s imperative that we ask the question, “What am I doing with my life?” Here are three questions to mull over this week to help you put God first and not waste the time we have been given. I encourage you to invite someone into the “mulling” with you so you don’t see your life through the glass of the distorted carnival mirror.
1. How am I spending my time and money? As I began preparing for yesterday’s sermon a couple of weeks ago, I asked myself this same question. I quickly realized that I needed to remove the TV from my bedroom. There was nothing immoral happening via the TV, but Natasha and I were missing out on valuable talk time because we were distracted. So the TV is now in the basement! Seriously analyze how you are spending your time and money. Write it down. I bet it will be eye-opening!
2. What are my goals? Don’t have any? Get some. And write them down (see a pattern forming?). Spend time this week setting some long-term and short-term goals. Make sure that your goals are “Kingdom of Heaven” goals and not your kingdom. Your kingdom goals will come up woefully short!
3. What’s my first step? Begin to live it out! Step out there! Trust that Jesus meant what he said in John 10:10.
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
As you begin to live it out, write down the faith steps you’re taking and the ways that God is faithful to His promises. Celebrate how He is moving in your life.
I’m looking forward to seeing where God continues to take us on this journey of life that He has trusted us with. Don’t waste this week! Keep chasing Him!
How am I spending my time and money? Goals and Action? OUCH! No TV in the bedroom! DOUBLE OUCH!!!!! Actually, I am OK with that….. if I don’t want to watch it. 🙂 I am grateful for God’s Grace and the reminder Sunday that GOOD is the enemy of the BEST!
Just can’t be satisfied with “good” any longer! Thanks for sharing Jennifer.
