Hello there!

Welcome to the Southern Hills blog!

WHAT’S THE PURPOSE?  This blog is just one of the many ways Southern Hills hopes to encourage and equip you to apply the Gospel to your everyday life.

WHAT’S THE CONTENT?  At the beginning of the week, posts will revolve around Sunday morning’s message.  We want to provide practical ways to apply what happens on Sunday throughout the week.  We’ll also look forward to the following Sunday as we prepare to gather together again.  At the end of the week, staff will have the opportunity to share about other topics that will benefit the whole body.  This blog also provides a place for our Lead Pastor and other staff to share SoHills news with the church that may not be “big” enough for the stage.

WHY BLOGGING?  Whatever we do, we want to do excellently.  We considered creating a podcast or video blog; however, producing these mediums at a standard we would be pleased with would require several hours of staff time.  A blog accomplishes the same purposes while requiring far less time and allowing us to remain focused on other ministry areas and tools.

Blogging also allows you to join the conversation.  What is God revealing to you about the subject?  Where do you see God moving in your own life?  What wisdom can you offer?  Please don’t just read, but engage with the different posts.  Comment.  Encourage.  Discuss.  Wrestle.  Also, feel free to let us know what other topics you want to see on the blog!

We’re excited about this new venture!  Thanks for being patient with us as we find our rhythm and voice.  Let’s start blogging together!

I am a 34-year-old hipster who enjoys visiting coffee shops with my husband. I am a Creative Arts Pastor at SoHills and am passionate about environments where opportunities are provided to encounter Christ. Anything done excellently captures my attention. And I know my dog is the cutest you've ever seen.

The blogging is a great idea! We are so fortunate to have such a super staff at SHCC and this is just one more way to interact and encourage one another! You are a “interesting” person (meant as a compliment), Nicole, and continue to amaze me with your creativity! And, yes, Desmond, is a super cute dog!

    • Thank Jean! All credit goes to Corey for the blog. He has been pushing me to start it for some time. Glad we could get it off the ground! I hope it continues to challenge and encourage all of us.
